Easy Microwave Carmel Popcorn

We've been craving carmel popcorn lately!
So, I made some last night. This is always a hit with the kids!
Mix 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup karo syrup, 1/4 cup butter in a pyrex bowl
and heat on high for 1 1/2 minutes.

Take out and stir til bubbles are gone.
Put back in and cook on high again for 2 minutes more.
Take out and stir again and then add 1 tsp of baking soda and stir.

This is how it will look when after you stir in your baking soda.

Use 7 cups of regular popped popcorn in a brown paper bag

Pour the carmel mixture all over the popcorn in the bag

Stir quickly and thuroughly with a big spoon.
Put back into microwave and cook again for 2 minutes more

Take out and shake the bag well.
Then throw out onto wax paper on the counter top and let sit for just a sec..
and then EAT LIKE CRAZY before it's gone!
Yummy for my tummy!

  1. Wow that looks great. I'm going to give that a try. I just want to know why it goes back into the microwave for 2 more min? Does it burn the popcorn? I also read your Lampia recipe. I think I'm trying that one as well. Thanks Lisa!
